This ties into the foundations of Hebrew chapter 6. The judgements and the resurrection.
The current Heaven is a temporary place for the saints(believers) who die prior to the rapture and for the wedding banquet after the rapture and prior to returning to the earth to rule and reign with Christ for 1000 years.
Hell is a temporary place (2 Peter 2:9) to keep Satan and the fallen angels and all who did not go to heaven. They will stay there until the end of the 1000-year reign with Christ on the earth. Remember Abraham's Bosom? The righteous were kept there until Christ lead captivity captive.
Hell is a place of darkness.
Then Satan is released alone onto the earth to deceive the Nations once again. Satan will shortly be bound with chains and cast into the Lake of Fire along with the fallen angels and hell itself and all who do not pass the final great white thrown judgement.
Lets look at the scriptures about this. Decide for yourself!
The bible talks about two judgements
1. The Judgement seat of Christ
2. The Great White Throne Judgement
Lets start with The Judgement seat of Christ.
A. It is only for believers in Jesus Christ. Luke 14:14 2 Corinthians 5:10 John 5:22
B. Jesus is given the position of judge John 5:22
C. It is occurring at the death of believers or the rapture of the believer. John 5:22
D. It is only a Judgement of rewards. Hebrews 9:27 2 Corinthians 5:10
E. It closes after the rapture of the Church. Revelations 20:4
F. It is clearly the best place to be because you avoid the next judgement. Revelations 20:4
This is taught in the foundations
Lets look at the Great White Throne Judgement Seat.
A. Jesus is given the position to judge. John 5:22
B. It occurs after the 1000 year millennial reign on the earth. Revelations 20:7
C. Everyone who did not go to the judgement seat of Christ goes to this. Revelations 20:6
D. Believers and non-believers are there. 1 Timothy 3:6 Hebrews 10:27 Acts 24:15 Mathew 25:31-46
E. It is 100% based on YOUR works. Revelations 20:11-15 Mathew 25:31-46
F. Anyone who passes, is invited into heaven. It is the judgement for those who died and did not make it into the judgement seat of Christ or did not go in the first resurrection (rapture).
The reason we separated this out is that You should make every effort to be included in the first resurrection. The first resurrection has not been completed. It has already begun with the resurrection of Jesus, the captives in Abraham's Bosom and those who (Mathew 17:53) were resurrected at the same time Jesus was and went into Jerusalem alive. It is critical that we get your life hid in Christ. Completely rely on the mercy of Christ and be quick to show mercy.
Luke 14:14 And you will be blessed although they cannot repay you. you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.
Revelations 20:6 Blessed are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them but will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
Revelations 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades(hell) gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades (hell) were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
At this point anyone who made the first resurrection is not dead. They are not there.
Revelations 17: 8 The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.
It does say how to KEEP your name in there. You must be victorious (Rev 3:5) You must not be impure or do anything shameful or deceitful(Rev21:27) All of this indicates who they are. So those listed in the book of life are people who were kept in hell awaiting judgement and those who were alive at the time on the earth when the 1000 year reign ends.
This judgement is 100% based on what people did or did not do. This is the second judgement.
That is why our focus should be to stay vigilant, and prepared. Use wisdom to keep yourself strong and not get worn down. Jesus said that many will fall away because of the evil going on around them. Noah was surrounded by evil but kept going.
