Five Fold ministry | The Hidden Prophets

The Government of the CHURCH according to the New Testament

Five Fold ministry is a reference to a group of ministers not found in scripture. Similar to rapture which is a reference to an event found in scripture.

You will find New Testament references to the office of Prophet 154 times, Apostle 54 times, Evangelist 2 times
Pastor 1 time.

HEBREWS 13: 8 says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. What has actually changed? The law has been fulfilled by Jesus himself.

EPHESIANS 2: 19,20 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

EPHESIANS 4: 11,12 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

1 CORINTHIANS 12: 28 And God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of various kinds of tongues

EPHESIANS 3:4-6 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy Apostles and Prophets. This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

Luke 11:49 Because of this, God in His wisdom said."I will send them Prophets and Apostles."

AMOS 3:7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealed his secret unto his servants the Prophets

MATTHEW 23: 25-39 “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? Therefore, I am sending you Prophets and sages and Teachers.

Benefits of an active Five Fold Ministry in the Church!

Ephesians 4: 11-15

So Christ himself gave the Apostles, the Prophets, the Evangelists, the Pastors and Teachers, (WHY) to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Mark 7: 7-9 States that when we follow the ways and commandments of men, we nullify the commandments and Kingdom of God. So, the Holy Spirit is grieved and thus no signs and wonders. Having the offices set up by God and following that keeps us following the commandments of God.

What do these roles look like?

Apostle: Equip the saints for ministry. Anointed one to establish the New Testament Church. They are confirmed by signs and wonders. They appoint and anoint those who work in the local church. Established sound doctrine in the Church, reveal mysteries, bring God's wisdom.

Prophet: Equip the saints for ministry. No indication the role of a Prophet has changed from the Old Testament. They are to hear the word of The Lord for the church. They are to warn and expose. They are the two lamp stands found in revelations calling down fire and stopping the rain. They are the ones God speaks to before He does anything on the earth. In the church setting, they are the ones commissioned to speak and reveal mysteries

Evangelist:Equip the saints for ministry. Anointed preacher and commissioned by God outside the Church to spread the Gospel.

Pastor: Equip the saints for ministry. Cares for the flock(believers). Also referred to as an overseer. The one appointed to chase a wandering sheep. They are called to serve and care for people.

Teacher: Equip the saints for ministry. One who expounds on the written word

This is not a complete list but something to consider. Am I seeing that now?

There are more however it should be noted that Jesus was foretelling an action God the Father revealed by wisdom. The sending of the Prophet and the Apostle. in the New Testament they tended to work together. They are the primary governmental role as established by Jesus Christ.
